A coalition of law enforcement agencies recovered a stolen Colt M4 rifle on Wednesday that was taken out of a Seattle police vehicle during the riots in response to the death of George Floyd last spring.
The coalition made up of Seattle Police investigators, the ATF, and the Marysville Police Department, found the rifle buried in the backyard of home in Marysville, WA.
Police say it was found buried in the 3100 block of 83rd Avenue NE in Marysville, KOMO News reported.
Officer Danielle Rusch with the Marysville Police Department responded to a call, developed information on the rifle’s location, and contacted the Seattle Police Robbery Unit.
After obtaining consent from the homeowner to search the property, the responding law enforcement agencies found the stolen Colt M4 buried in the backyard of the property.
Detectives had previously interviewed a man that stays at the home who had denied they were in possession of the stolen rifle in the past, according to KOMO News.
Jacob Little is in federal custody facing felony charges for possession of a stolen firearm after allegedly stealing the Colt M4 rifle from a burned-out Seattle police vehicle during the riots last spring. Little was seen carrying the weapon days after the riot at local gun range. The federal officers who charged Little described him as very "well-armed." Little allegedly tried to sell the rifle for $900.
Little is being held in Federal detention center in SeaTac, WA. The charges for the theft of the rile from the police carry a potential 10 year sentence and a $250,000 fine.
The Seattle Police Department announced all rifles that were stolen during last year’s riots in wake of the death of George Floyd have since been recovered.
