Kamelia Enzler, 55, of Bellevue, has been charged with third-degree criminal mischief.
A viral video, first posted on X by journalist Jonathan Choe, shows Enzler exiting a white Toyota 4Runner after coming to a halt in the parking lot. A Tesla Model Y had been driving behind her. Enzler, with an angry expression on her face, approached the Tesla, which had a child in the backseat, and proceeded to key one of its doors. She returned to her vehicle and drove away, according to the video.
The incident follows a series of similar attacks across the nation targeting Tesla vehicles and property in recent weeks, as some leftwing voters have taken up violence to protest Elon Musk's role in the Trump administration. However, the Issaquah Police Department alleged in a press release that the altercation stemmed from a road rage incident and "not the politically motivated attacks that have previously targeted Teslas and their owners." It's unclear how the agency came to this conclusion.
Within a couple of hours of the incident being shared online, internet sleuths worked tirelessly to identify the culprit. By the time Enzler was identified as the alleged suspect, she had already deleted her social media accounts, suggesting she may have been made aware of the online manhunt.
Records show that Enzler owns a fitness company called iPeak Fitness. Her husband, Jeff Enzler, is a lead software engineer at DocuSign, the Daily Mail reported. According to public records, the couple owns a $1.5 million home in Bellevue, a wealthy suburb of Seattle with more moderate political views.
Issaquah Police filed third-degree malicious mischief charges with the City of Issaquah's Prosecuting Attorney, according to the press release.
The Seattle area has been a hotbed for Tesla attacks in recent weeks. On March 19, a masked male suspect hunted down a woman driving a Tesla in Lynnwood, Washington, a city just north of Seattle. He stopped in the middle of the road, exited the vehicle, and ordered the victim to sell her "Nazi" car. The Snohomish County Sheriff's Office told The Post Millennial that charges have been referred for prosecution.
On March 9, a suspect vandalized several Tesla vehicles with Nazi symbols at a service station, which also occurred in Lynnwood. Authorities have not yet identified a suspect(s) in this case. On March 13, a Tesla vehicle parked in Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood, the former Antifa-BLM CHAZ zone, was set on fire. A gas can was recovered at the scene, and the suspect remains at large. Additionally, several Tesla vehicles were torched in Seattle's SODO district on March 10. A subject, in this case, has not been taken into custody.
FBI Seattle has been investigating the arson cases.
