Chloe Cole, an 18-year-old woman known for being outspoken about her gender transition and subsequent detransition, has launched a lawsuit against the doctors that performed her "gender-affirming" surgery.
"Chloe Cole is a remarkable young woman whose story has gripped the nation," the Center for American Liberty states. "At just 9 years old, Chloe began suffering from gender dysphoria. She first expressed her struggle with gender dysphoria to her pediatrician when she was 12 years old."
Human Event’s Jack Posobiec posted a donation link to Twitter for Cole’s legal battle, writing shortly before the post, "Should I help @ChoooCole raise funds for her lawsuit against the doctors and hospital who lied and coerced her at 13 years old?"
On Tuesday morning, he added, "Christmas is a time for giving. This Christmas, we are going to help @ChoooCole raise funds for her lawsuit against the corrupt hospital and doctors that coerced her at 13 to undertake."
Under the advice and supervision of medical professionals, the center said that Cole was "coerced into undergoing a 'gender transition.'"
"Between the ages of 13 and 17 years old, physicians placed Chloe on puberty blockers, off-label cross-sex hormone treatment, and performed a double mastectomy on her to remove her breasts," the center states.
"Doctors told Chloe and her parents that Chloe’s gender dysphoria would never resolve itself. That was a lie. They also told Chloe and her parents that Chloe was at a high risk for suicide unless she socially and medically transitioned. Chloe’s doctors told her parents, 'would you rather have a dead daughter or a live son?’ That was a lie too."
The center said that Cole was never informed by doctors that her gender dysphoria would more than likely resolve in adulthood, and that there were non-invasive psychological or psychiatric counseling options.
"Instead, her doctors concealed treatment options from her and fraudulently informed her that the only way to resolve her gender dysphoria was to undergo a physical, chemical, and social transition to a male role," the center said. "And the result of their concealment—their fraud—is a lifetime of irreversible physical and psychological damage to Chloe."
"Today, Chloe is fighting back and seeking justice—justice for herself and for other kids who struggle with gender dysphoria and are being coerced into irreversible medical 'care.' Chloe’s lawsuit seeks to hold her doctors responsible for the bodily mutilation she has suffered," the center concluded.
In a recent interview with Fox News host Tucker Carlson, Cole and attorney Harmeet Dhillon discussed the lawsuit.
Speaking as to why this lawsuit was being brought forward, Cole said it’s a "medical malpractice case," and that "I want to hold the adults who put me in harm’s way accountably because, I mean, what happened to me, is horrible but it’s also — it didn’t only happen to me. That’s the worst part of it."
"It’s happening to children all over the US, all over the West, and it’s spreading all over the world. And yeah, I want to be able to create a precedent for the people who have been in my situation to find justice for themselves," she added.
Dhillon added, "we intend to stop it and we want to hear from other people who have had these problems as well. We intend to shut these barbaric and unnatural practices down."
A letter of intent to sue, filed on November 9, lists Dr. Lisa Kristine Taylor, Dr. Hop Nguyen Le, Dr. Susanne Watson, the Permanente Medical Group, the Kaiser Foundation Health Plan, Inc., and Kaiser Foundation Hospitals as the defendants.
The letter states that as a result of undergoing hormone treatments and surgical procedures, she has been diagnosed with Hypogonadotropic Hypogonadism, Hyperandrogenism, Hypoestrogenemia, Erythrocytosis, and an abnormal Complete Blood Count. Additionally, the letter states that Cole is 2.5 inches shorter than her predicted adult height, and around 4.5 inches shorter than the maximum predicted height she could have attained if it weren’t for testosterone usage.
The letter also notes that Cole had prior diagnoses of ADHD and Disruptive Behavior Disorder prior to being diagnosed with gender dysphoria.
Additionally, the letter states that Cole and her family were not properly warned of the potential side effects that could come with cross-sex hormone usage and surgical intervention.
Cole has been outspoken regarding the trauma that she has been through during her transition and detransition.
Speaking at a Florida Boards of Medicine and Osteopathic Medicine Joint Rules/Legislative Committee Rule Workshop in October alongside other detransitioners, Cole said, "And yet at 16, after years of medically transitioning, I came to realize I severely regretted my transition."
Cole noted the role that social media and the internet had on her decision to transition, saying that "I unknowingly gave my mind and eventually my body to an anti-science movement that reduces women to long hair, barbie dolls, dresses, and false self-perception."
As she continued with her transition, Cole said that she was becoming increasingly suicidal, and that some issues went undiagnosed for years until she had stopped transitioning, like autism and body dysmorphia.
"All the talk about mental health, self-perception, pronouns, and ideology leads me to the question, why is a mental health epidemic not being addressed with mental health treatment to get at the root causes for why female adolescents like me want to reject their bodies?" Cole asked.
Cole noted that years after her double mastectomy, she is still experiencing complications, saying that at that moment she was wearing bandages on her chest to stop the leaking.
"I have no breasts. I want to be a mother someday, and yet I can never naturally feed my future children. My breasts were beautiful, and now they have been incinerated for nothing."
