"The days of magical legal thinking are over. The Cavalry is not coming. The legal Calvary is not coming to the rescue of Joe Biden."
MSNBC on Wednesday grieved the pausing of multiple cases against Trump, coming after the Georgia Court of Appeals agreed to hear an appeal on a lower court’s ruling that allowed Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis to continue her prosecution of Trump.
"Delay, delay, delay. In Florida, delayed indefinitely. Now Georgia. It has been a rough few days for Jack Smith and Fani Willis," said MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle. "Mark, do you think we are going to see any progress here before the election and after the election? Do you think these trials are ever going to happen?"
"Well, I don't know. But I mean, the key question is: Anything going to happen before the election? I think the answer is no," said producer and political advisor Mark McKinnon. "The days of magical legal thinking are over. The Cavalry is not coming. The legal calvary is not coming to the rescue of Joe Biden."
The Georgia Court of Appeals stated on Wednesday that "Upon consideration of the Application for Interlocutory Appeal, it is ordered that it be hereby GRANTED."
A lower court judge had ruled previously that either Willis or her former lover Nathan Wade, who was a lead prosecutor on the case, must recuse themselves. Wade was the one who stepped away from the case.
The comments on MSNBC also come as Trump’s Mar-a-Lago documents case has been indefinitely postponed. The trial was set to begin on May 20.
In a court order, Judge Aileen Cannon wrote that it "would be imprudent" to finalize a start date "at this juncture," noting that a number of pre-trial issues have not been solved.
