During Friday’s episode of The View, the co-hosts were forced to issue several legal notes correcting inaccurate claims made about President-elect Donald Trump’s cabinet nominees and other conservative figures. The clarifications came after remarks made by Joy Behar, Sara Haines, Ana Navarro, Sunny Hostin, and Alyssa Farah Griffin.

During the segment, the hosts discussed sexual assault allegations that have risen regarding Trump’s first pick for Attorney General, Matt Gaetz, and his choice for Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. Hostin was then forced to read denials by the lawyers of both men.

“I have a legal note,” Hostin stated. “Matt Gaetz has long denied all allegations and has not been charged with any crime.”

"Also, another legal note," she continued, this time about Hegseth. "Pete Hegseth’s lawyer said he paid the woman [his assault accuser] in 2023 to head off the threat of a baseless lawsuit. He has denied any wrongdoing."

Later, Hostin was forced to read a fourth disclaimer, this time regarding Trump’s new nominee for Attorney General, Pam Bondi.

"I’m sorry everyone, I have another legal note," Hostin said, to which Behar replied, “Oh my God.”

"Both Trump and Bondi have denied allegations of a quid pro quo that his past donation played any role in her office’s decision not to take legal action against Trump University when she was attorney general of Florida," Hostin stated.

"This show is just going to be legal notes and things we’re selling," Navarro commented.

"We’re going to call it [the show] ‘The Legal Note,'" Behar joked.

Also during the show, when the hosts had a segment discussing former Republican Congressman George Santos, Behar claimed that the former congressman had 23 criminal charges, including wire fraud. Minutes after saying this, she was forced to read a message sent to her phone by the show’s producers, according to the New York Post

"One minute, I just got a note," Behar said as she looked at her phone. "We have to clarify that Santos eventually reached a plea deal after pleading guilty to wire fraud and aggravated identity theft."

"Is that a legal note?" Haines asked.

"Kind of, it’s a clarification," Behar replied.

The four legal disclaimers come just a few days after Hostin was forced to read a legal disclaimer for accusing Gaetz of committing “child sex crimes” and “child trafficking.” Hostin read a legal note aloud that stated Gaetz has “long denied all allegations.”
