"Just do it this one time. Do it this one time. Vote for the Democrat to save the country. When everything gets back to normal then become a Republican again.”

The View co-host Joy Behar urged Republicans in her audience Friday to vote for Democrats in the 2024 presidential election “to save the country” from former President Donald Trump. Behar pleaded with GOP supporters to break ranks during a conversation about how former Rep. Liz Cheney has endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris in the November election. Her father, former Vice President Dick Cheney, has also endorsed Harris shortly after Liz did.

"Just do it this one time. Do it this one time. Vote for the Democrat to save the country," she said. “When everything gets back to normal then become a Republican again.” This is akin to much of the sentiment from the Democrat left, which sees this election as an attempt to defeat not only Trump but the populist MAGA movement.

Co-host Ana Navarro chimed in, “Listen. The thing is this, we can have policy differences. You can have policy differences with Kamala. You can have policy differences with Liz Cheney. We are not at a point right now to be talking about policy differences. This is not about economic differences because we are not running against a normal human being. We are running against Donald Trump, who is an existential threat to humanity.”

Navarro spoke at the Democratic National Convention in August and suggested Trump was a communist, comparing him to Fidel Castro while lauding Harris.

Co-host Alyssa Fara Griffin, another Republican NeverTrumper, said she is planning to do a "fireside chat" with Liz Cheney and some former Trump staffers to try to damage the Republican presidential candidate’s campaign, Fox News noted. "I’ve never voted for a Democrat in my life," Griffin said. "This man [Trump] is so wholly unfit for office. And so, next week I’m traveling to battleground Pennsylvania with Liz Cheney and my friend Sarah Matthews and Cassidy Hutchison. And we’re there with a nonpartisan group to talk about the threat that Donald Trump poses and why he should not be back in the White House." Hutchison had made the debunked claim that Trump had reached for the steering wheel of the Secret Service car he was riding in while leaving the J6 rally at the Elipse and heading back to the White House. She wrote about it in her book and testified to that effect before the J6 Committee in Congress.

Co-host Sunny Hostin said she is optimistic about Republicans who are not backing Trump, "I certainly have been a Liz Cheney critic because, you know, she voted with Trump 93% of the time. But I have had a change of heart when it came to this, when I saw this, because I think it’s brilliant that Kamala Harris is willing to have other voices in the room. I think it says a lot about the type of president that she would be."

President Joe Biden was recently a guest on The View and when co-host Whoopi Goldberg compared Trump to a bug, Biden pretended to kill a bug on the table.
