The View co-host Sunny Hostin claimed that black women will not tolerate Democrats passing over Kamala Harris as the nominee if Joe Biden steps out of the race. She made the comments during the show Thursday when the hosts were discussing who could replace Biden for the Democratic nominee if he drops out.

“Kamala, if she is leapfrogged and there’s some open convention, no Democratic nominee can win without the black vote. Black women will not support Kamala Harris being looked over. Why? Because she is ready," Hostin said.

"She's been in the Oval Office with him, she's been in the Situation Room with him. How dare people suggest that she is incompetent." However, earlier in July, Hostin had expressed doubts that Harris could beat Trump if she were to face him the 2024 election.

“I will say this. I am uncomfortable with him [Biden] stepping down because I don’t know if this country will vote for a black woman,” Hostin said on July 8. “If this country could not vote for Hillary Clinton, one of the most decorated and successful politicians and people in the world, I don’t know that Kamala Harris can beat a convicted felon.”

Hostin has been a heavy critic of Trump and earlier this week said that the assassination attempt on Trump stemmed from “The common denominator ... [of] America’s fascination and obsession with owning guns."

In recent polling, however, Trump beats out both Biden and Harris, according to the Real Clear Polling averages.
