Thomas Matthew Crooks, the 20-year-old who failed in his attempt to assassinate former President Donald Trump at a Pennsylvania rally last weekend had searched for information regarding Ethan Crumbley, a school shooter in Michigan from 2021.

According to reports from CNN, Crooks had images of Ethan Crumbley being and had looked up information about Crumbley's parents. Crumbley's parents were later convicted on involuntary manslaughter charges as a result of the shooting. The revelations come as investigators are trying to determine what led up to the assassination attempt on Trump. Crooks had also searched for information on Trump leading up to the shooting and had searched for places to buy ammunition as well.

Crumbley shot and killed four classmates as well as wounded six others at Michigan's Oxford High School in 2021. Officials noted that they also found data related to Crooks searching for the location of the rally a week prior to the event taking place. This revelation adds to the FBI's profile of Crooks as they work to understand what led to the assassination attempt.

Earlier reports revealed that Crooks’ parents were concerned about his whereabouts on the day of the shooting and contacted the police, informing them that they did not know where their son was. They suspected he had gone to the local shooting range due to the fact that one of his father's rifles was missing.

The FBI has now shifted its focus from Crooks' phone to his laptop and hard drives discovered in his bedroom as part of their ongoing investigation. The would-be assassin was killed just moments after he took shots at the now-GOP nominee last Saturday. The Secret Service has fallen under heavy scrutiny for security failures leading up to the assassination attempt.
