Opposition MPs have slowed down the Trudeau government's attempts to spend billions in pandemic relief programs, according to Blacklock's Reporter.

The finance committee slowed down this spending, saying the Trudeau government spends too much, too quickly. On top of this, Trudeau has a habit of forking out tax dollars without oversight or auditing.

"We requested from the government, in writing, that they do a full audit and investigation and there’s been no agreement from the government to do that," explained one Conservative MP.

"Now they’re trying to shovel this through as fast as they can when the whole country is wondering where those pandemic benefits went to. It’s not fair to Canadians to spend a few short days on billions of dollars."

Trudeau would've allocated $7.4 billion in new spending to pandemic relief. This would've taken the form of subsidies for employers.

The government also wanted to provide workers with $300 per week if their livelihood was affected by a local lockdown.

Conservative Finance Critic Pierre Poilievre said that he wanted to "study this legislation [to] make sure there is no opportunity for abuse."

"We don’t want to waste another $100 million, $200 million, a billion dollars on mismanagement or fraud. Let’s go through it with a fine-tooth comb and let’s make sure the legislation actually does what the politicians say it does," he added.
