An investigation reveals that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has flown over 50,000 km in the past two months.

Of the 127,147 km that Trudeau has flown since June, 50,680 km of that took place in the last seven weeks, reports the National Post. The Trudeau Liberals have burned this fuel while promoting their plan to cap emissions on oil and gas by 40 percent.

True North reports that the 50,000 km in jet fuel used would be enough to circle the globe three times.

Trudeau's longest trips include a 6,588 km trip to Warsaw, Poland to meet international allies in light of Russian aggression against Ukraine, a beach trip to Tofino on Truth and Reconciliation day, and a weeklong trip to Glasgow, Scotland where the prime minister met with world leaders to discuss ways that governments could counter climate change.

The prime minister has recently ramped up his climate rhetoric, announcing in April that his government was aiming to reduce emissions by 40 to 45 percent of 2005's levels, after the Liberals say they "blew past" previous climate targets.

"Climate change knows no borders, and we cannot tackle it alone. Over the next two days, I will be meeting virtually with President Biden and other leaders from around the world for the Leaders Summit on Climate. The Summit is an important opportunity to discuss the urgent need and economic benefits of stronger climate action," Trudeau said in a statement.

Adjunct professor of York University's Faculty of Environmental Studies Bruce Campbell told the National Post that Trudeau's do-as-I-say approach is yet another contradiction on environmental policy.

He told the National Post: "[It's] another one of those Trudeau contradictions, like when his government declared a climate emergency and then announced it was buying a pipeline, or more recently put forward its climate plan implemented in Budget 2022 and then approved an offshore oil development project despite the latest warnings from the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change)."
