Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will meet with President Donald Trump at the White House on Monday. The meeting will be followed by a potential meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, as well as a possible peace agreement, "if all works out" well.

President Donald Trump announced the update on Truth Social, where he wrote, "A great and very successful day in Alaska! The meeting with President Vladimir Putin of Russia went very well, as did a late night phone call with President Zelenskyy of Ukraine, and various European Leaders, including the highly respected Secretary General of NATO. It was determined by all that the best way to end the horrific war between Russia and Ukraine is to go directly to a Peace Agreement, which would end the war, and not a mere Ceasefire Agreement, which often times do not hold up."

"President Zelenskyy will be coming to D.C., the Oval Office, on Monday afternoon. If all works out, we will then schedule a meeting with President Putin. Potentially, millions of people’s lives will be saved. Thank you for your attention to this matter!" Trump added.

The post from Trump follows a meeting between him and Putin in Anchorage, Alaska, on Friday evening, where Trump was slated to talk about the possibility of ending the war between Russia and Ukraine that began in 2022.

Both Trump and Putin said that there was "great progress" in reaching a resolution to the conflict. The US president said in a press conference with Putin that they agreed on "many points," but that there were "a couple of big ones that we haven’t quite gotten there, but we’ve made some headway."

"So there’s no deal until there’s a deal," Trump added. "I will call up NATO in a little while, I will call up the various people that I think are appropriate, and, of course, call up President Zelensky and tell them about today’s meeting. It’s ultimately up to them."

"Today’s agreements will be the starting point, not only for the solution of the Ukrainian issue, but also will help us bring back business-like and pragmatic relations between Russia and [the] US," Putin said in the press conference.

In an interview with Sean Hannity after the meeting, Trump told the host that he believes Putin is not just open to peace but would like to "see it done."
