Speaking with reporters aboard Air Force One on Monday morning, Trump said an "unstoppable" Republican ticket for the 2028 presidential election would current Vice President JD Vance at the top and Secretary of State Marco Rubio for VP.

While en route to Japan, Trump told reporters that there are "very good people" for the 2028 ticket, later clarifying when asked who was among those people, "Well, we have great people. Well, I don’t have to get into that, but we have one of them standing right here. We have JD [Vance] obviously.

"The vice president is great, Marco [Rubio] is great. I’m not sure if anybody would run against us. I think if they ever formed a group it would be unstoppable, I really do. I really believe that."

He added that the Democrat party has Reps Jasmine Crockett and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, whom he called "low IQ."

"Give her an IQ test. Have her pass, like, the exams that I decided to take when I was at Walter Reed," he said, later adding, "let AOC go against Trump. Let Jasmine go against Trump. I don’t think Jasmine—the first couple of questions are easy, a tiger, an elephant, a giraffe, you know, when you get up to about five or six and then when you get up to 10 and 20 and 25, they couldn't come close to answering any of those questions."

On the Democrat side, California Governor Gavin Newsom is considering throwing his hat into the ring. Biden's former Vice President Kamala Harris also hasn't ruled out a run, despite her complete failure in 2024.

Prediction market Polymarket has placed California Governor Gavin Newsom's chances of winning the 2028 election at 22 percent as of Sunday. Vance was in the lead at 29 percent and Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez trailed other candidates at 8 percent. AOC has indicated that she may consider either a Senate run in 2028 or a presidential bid.

Crockett recently said that she was "strongly" considering a run for Senate if redistricting efforts in Texas threaten her chances at being reelected to Congress. She said that it would be "karma" if she were to win the Senate after losing the House.

"The other option is every other day there's a poll that comes out that makes it clear that I can win the primary for the US Senate race in Texas, and I am looking, because if you want to take my seat of 766,000 away, I feel like there has to be some karma in that to where I take your seat that is for 30 million away," she said.
