“I’ve seen everyone do it. I watched the UFC fight (Saturday) night and Jon Jones did it. I like watching UFC so I saw it, and thought it was cool.”
On Sunday, Raiders tight end Brock Bowers did Trump’s signature dance move after a 23-yard catch-and-run touchdown. The rookie ended the day with 13 catches for 126 yards and a touchdown for Las Vegas in a 34-19 loss at Miami.
Titans wide receiver Calvin Ridley danced with teammate Nick Westbrook-Ikhine while celebrating a touchdown during Tennessee’s 23-13 loss to Minnesota.
Lions defensive end Za’Darius Smith celebrated on Sunday with the same signature dance move with Malcolm Rodriguez after a sack in the fourth quarter of Detroit’s 52-6 defeat of Jacksonville.
Bowers told USA Today after the game, “I’ve seen everyone do it. I watched the UFC fight (Saturday) night and Jon Jones did it. I like watching UFC so I saw it, and thought it was cool.”
Jones did the Trump dance after defeating Stipe Miocic with Trump in attendance at Madison Square Garden on Saturday night. He then pointed to Trump, who was seated ringside, and gave him a thumbs-up.
Bowers’ comments were excluded from the Raiders’ other postgame videos and transcripts.
Last week, San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa was fined $11,255 by the NFL for wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat during a postgame interview after the league claimed that the hat violated the league’s NFL uniform and equipment rules.
Bosa crashed an interview with quarterback Brock Purdy during NBC’s postgame coverage of the Niners’ win over the Dallas Cowboys on Oct. 27 and pointed to the Trump hat.
Undeterred, Bosa celebrated a sack last week during his team’s victory over Tampa Bay by doing the Trump dance with his teammates.
