On Tuesday, former Congresswoman and recent Democratic Party defector Tulsi Gabbard announced via Twitter that she was throwing her support behind Ohio Republican candidate JD Vance for Senate.
Gabbard suggested that Vance had the interests of his constituents at heart, while his Democratic rival Tim Ryan, if elected, would not put Americans first.
"Tim Ryan represents everything that is wrong with the warmongering Washington Establishment," Gabbard wrote. "I’m endorsing [Vance] because he knows the cost of war, and that our government exists to serve the people, not the other way around."
"Grateful to have the support of the last person to clean Tim Ryan's clock on the debate stage," Vance replied. "Thanks Tulsi! And thanks for putting country over party."
According to FiveThirtyEight, with just six days before election day, Vance currently sits ahead of Ryan by two points. During his campaign, he has received the endorsement of many high-profile members of the Republican party, including both Trump and Gov. DeSantis, however, Gabbard, although a former member of the party, is the first Democrat to offer her support.
Since announcing her departure from the Democratic party, Gabbard has found a welcome home within conservative circles and has since endorsed numerous Republicans across the nation.
In October, she declared her support for Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake and Senate candidate Blake Masters, as well as Darren Bailey, who is running to be the next governor of Illinois, and Washington congressional candidate Joe Kent.
Speaking at a rally outside Chicago on Monday, Gabbard slammed Illinois' current governor JB Pritzker.
"Whether it's with Gov. Pritzker, or the radical woke agenda being pushed by Democrats in Washington," Gabbard stated, "those who seek to undermine our fundamental freedoms at every opportunity and who dangerously are using the force of the law to do so, politicizing the Department of Justice and the FBI. That's a dangerous place to be. We have a government that is of, by, and for the elite."
