Miller posted on X, "All illegal aliens seeking entry into the United States should turn back now. Anyone entering the United States without authorization faces prosecution and expulsion."
Throughout the campaign, the border and illegal immigration were huge topics for Trump as former President Joe Biden allowed for a soft-border policy, allowing millions of people to cross the border illegally without consequence under his term.
After Trump was sworn into office on Monday, he took swift action to reverse many of Biden's soft-border policies with a number of executive orders. Through executive action, he shut down the CBP One app on his first day in office. The application had served as an appointment-setting service to bring migrants to the border where they then claimed asylum, whether that was true or false. The vast majority of these immigrants were allowed into the country on parole and given court dates to appear for their immigration hearings, often several years later.
In addition to this, Trump signed an executive order that will use the US military to seal up the borders of the US to "maintain the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and security of the United States by repelling forms of invasion, including unlawful mass migration, narcotics trafficking, human smuggling and trafficking, and other criminal activities."
Deportation efforts of illegal immigrants, with a priority on those who have committed crimes in the United States, is set to take place in several American cities this week. Trump also reversed catch-and-release policy from Biden, and reinstituted a "remain in Mexico" policy when it came to seeking asylum.
One order stated, "The [DHS] Secretary shall, consistent with applicable law, issue new policy guidance or propose regulations regarding the appropriate and consistent use of lawful detention authority under the INA [Immigration and Nationality Act], including the termination of the practice commonly known as 'catch-and-release,' whereby illegal aliens are routinely released into the United States shortly after their apprehension for violations of immigration law."
