Update: The second officer is in critical condition and was originally reported deceased before further information was released Saturday.
An NYPD officer was fatally shot Friday night and another was left critically wounded when police responded to a domestic violence call in Harlem.
According to the New York Post, gunfire erupted around 5:10 pm in a Harlem apartment as police responded to a domestic violence dispute between a mother and her son. One of the officers was shot in the face, The Post reported.
Police informed the public not to enter the area of West 135 Street between Adam Clayton Powell Jr Blvd and Malcolm X Blvd in Manhattan due to the incident.

According to NYC Mayor Eric Adams' press secretary, the mayor who was speaking at Shabbat services headed to Harlem Hospital to receive a briefing from the NYPD and hold a media briefing informing the public of the development.
The two NYPD officers are the fourth and fifth members of the department to be injured by gunfire so far in 2022, according to The Post.
