UVU leftists plan protest to make Charlie Kirk memorial 'as uncomfortable as possible' for attendees

The left-wing group said they will demand that the "views of Charlie Kirk" cannot be on campus.

Left-wing groups at Utah Valley University are planning on protesting a memorial for the 1-year anniversary of Charlie Kirk's death coming up on September 10. Audio recording obtained by The Cougar Chronicle showed that one of the group's leaders said that they want to make attendance as "uncomfortable as possible."

Left-wing student clubs, including the Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) and others, were passing out fliers in preparation for a September 10 protest against the memorial for Kirk being hosted by Turning Point USA at the UCCU Center. The gathering will include speakers such as Glenn Beck, Christian apologist Frank Turek, and TPUSA field officer Andrew Sypher.

The protest flier stated that "UVU has supported a Turning Point event being held at the UCCU Center on the 10th. This has aligned the UVU admin with TPUSA and broken their neutrality on the matter. On the 10th we will be protesting TPUSA, UVU admin, and the Utah County Commissioners who organized" the event. They said they will demand that the "views of Charlie Kirk" cannot be on campus.

In addition to the fliers, SDS president Collin Grannis said in a recording obtained by the Chronicle that they are doing an "ICE out event" in addition to the protest of the Kirk memorial. "We'll need to take the fight and make sure that UVU knows that there shouldn't be a memorial on campus," he added.

When asked about what they will do to protest the event, Grannis said, "All that we'll be able to do is stand outside, but if we can make it make it as uncomfortable as possible for people to get in."

The event at Utah Valley University was announced in August, but only after there were reports that the university had stonewalled conversations with TPUSA in order to host the memorial on campus. In addition to the left-wing groups protesting the Kirk event, there have been revelations showing that left-wing extremists at the school where the assassination took place have been celebratory about the shooting.

Tyler Robinson, the man who has confessed to shooting Kirk, according to authorities, will stand trial for the murder. Robinson is facing the death penalty.
