A man in Venice, California was brutally attacked by two dogs owned by a homeless woman while walking home from work on June 2, according to FOX 11.

The victim, Carlos Hernandez, was left bloodied with multiple puncture wounds to both of his hands after the dogs latched onto his hands, which resulted in a hospital visit and the need to see a specialist.

The Los Angeles Police Department told FOX 11 that the two dogs involved in the attack have been taken into custody but may be released.

According to the outlet, LAPD told Hernandez to contact animal control. He followed through with that request and they informed Hernandez that one of the dogs might be returned to the owner in Venice.

Carlos Hernandez, who works multiple jobs to provide for his family, recalled the harrowing incident that took him by surprise.

"You just want to go get some dinner," Carlos said on his walk home from work. "You don't expect nothing. Nothing like that."

The two dogs that attacked Hernandez were owned by a homeless woman living out of a van and were reportedly on the sidewalk without leashes.

Hernandez's family told FOX 11 that the incident left Carlos unable to work while he recovers from the deep puncture wound cuts.

The family has set up a Go Fund Me to help offset medical expenses and support Carlos while he is home from work. It has received over $1,500 at the time of publishing.

"Since the lady is homeless, there is no point in trying to sue. All medical expenses and trauma are on my cousin. He is also unable to work until his hands heal. Carlos, is a family man, he works multiple jobs to support his small family. He is kind and caring. This situation is so unfair," the GoFundMe page, set up by a cousin of Hernandez, states.

Over the past few years, the state of California has seen a drastic increase in crime as a result of failed progressive policies, which include the defunding of police departments and woke judges and district attorneys refusing to prosecute criminals. As a result, residents and businesses have fled the state's Democrat-run cities at a record pace, specifically Los Angeles and San Francisco.
