Project Veritas obtained an exclusive interview with an insider from US Customs and Border Protection who disclosed documents from the Department of Homeland Security that reportedly show a five year record high in arrests of illegal immigrant sex offenders at the US-Mexico border.

The unclassified document from the US Department of Homeland Security, called "Border Intelligence Daily," details a warning that indicates sex offender encounters by US Border Patrol is at a five year high, the source states.

Project Veritas reports that then unclassified document states, "Criminal aliens with sex-related offenses are attempting to re-enter the United States in record numbers during the COVID-19 pandemic, likely due to unstable economic in their host countries."

"According to CBP statistics, there was a significant increase in US Border Patrol (USBP) encounters of criminal aliens with sex-related offenses during the COVID-19 pandemic in (FY) 2020, with 127 nationwide encounters from April through September 2020," the document stated.

"The total during this time frame was higher than the combined total of 121 encounters during the previous 24 months (April 2018-March 2020)."

Compared to the five previous years, statistics from the leaked document show that the 2021 Fiscal Year (FY) has the highest total of recorded encounters on record.

"This increase continued into FY 2021 with 214 encounters from October 2020 through February 2021—these five months already represent the highest total of recorded encounters compared to the previous five fiscal years," the document stated, according to Project Veritas.

According to the data, there were 154 arrests of illegal alien sex-offenders in FY 2020 compared to the 214 already recorded in 2021. The statistics further compared there were 58 encounters in 2019, 79 encounters in 2018, 137 encounters in 2017, and 156 encounters in 2016.

The founder of Project Veritas James O'Keefe asked the informant with CBP whether or not the statistics showcased in the document were valid.

"I would probably say they're underreported. All the records of the criminal aliens and sex offenders that we arrest now, they all have been previously deported from the United States from committing these crimes in the United States," said the anonymous CBP whistleblower.

The individual added it's "possibly underreported because sometimes we don't know about their criminal history or they haven’t got caught."

The informant detailed the dangerous and volatile situations that immigrants face while during the daring trek to the United States, highlighting the sexual assaults that often occur.

"I have witnessed the aftermath of some sexual assaults on the border. I have arrested or rescued (illegal) aliens that had been raped. I have sat in a hospital with women that’d been raped," said the informant.

"A couple years back, there was some men that had been raped and tied to the fence because they wouldn't carry drugs. There's a lot of sexual assaults going on.”

The Project Veritas founder asked the informant what he fears the most and he replied "finding dead children…in the middle of the desert."

"We run checkpoint operations where we check vehicles and catch live dope runs. [There's] Human smuggling, human trafficking problems," said the CBP whistleblower. "It's very dangerous."
