Jordan Peterson joined his daughter on her podcast The Mikhaila Peterson Podcast, to discuss his return to health and what he is doing now.

Jordan Peterson recently returned from Russia where he was undergoing treatment for a physical dependence to Benzodiazepine, an anti-anxiety medication that he was initially prescribed on a low dose following a severe autoimmune disease connected to his diet.

The dose was increased after his wife was diagnosed with cancer. Upon trying to get off the drug, his body went into shock and Peterson sought treatment at several North American hospitals before checking himself into a detox clinic in Russia.

Peterson has recently returned to Canada and is back to working on his next book, a follow-up to the internationally acclaimed 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos which will be entitled 12 More Rules for Life: Beyond Mere Order.

In the podcast, the two Petersons discuss at length his detox, recovery and the nature of the drugs he had been taking. Jordan Peterson talked about how severe the side effects of some of these anti-depressants can be and the immense withdrawal that they can bring on.

At one point Peterson mentioned that the reason that they would discuss this period of his life together was because the withdrawal had affected his memory and distorted his sense of time. Mikhaila was beside her father for much of the recovery and could help him fill in the gaps of the story of his recovery.

They also discussed Peterson's slow return to stability as he is now actively writing again, able to create and his love for music has returned.

The podcast ends with an emotional exchange between the two and Jordan Peterson thanking Mikhaila for being by his side through what sounds like his most arduous struggle to date.
