Both were taken to a tented area nearby.
On Saturday, Texas National Guard soldiers rescued a woman and her child attempting to illegally cross the Rio Grande River near Shelby Park, Eagle Pass, Texas.
A video posted to X by Representative Keith Self (R-TX) shows National Guard soldiers pulling up to the shore with the two people in their boat. One soldier carries the child off the boat, while another assists the woman. Both were taken to a tented area nearby.
In another post, Rep. Self posted a video of the razor wire that the Texas National Guard has put up to keep illegal immigrants from entering the country. "Come and cut it," he said in reference to the Biden administration suing the state to be able to remove the wire.
After the Supreme Court ruled that Biden's Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers could remove razor wire placed on the border by Texas, Governor Gregg Abbott said his state would not back down. "The Texas National Guard continues to hold the line in Eagle Pass. Texas will not back down from our efforts to secure the border in Biden’s absence," he wrote on X.
On Thursday, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis vowed to send some of his state's National Guard soldiers to assist Texas in its effort to secure the border with Mexico.
Florida has been assisting at the southern border since 2021, and we are sending more support from both the [Florida State Guard] & up to one battalion of [Florida National Guard]," DeSantis said in a post on X. "Their mission will be to assist Texas in erecting barriers at the border to stop the invasion of illegal aliens."
25 total states have vowed to stand in solidarity with Texas. Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Tennessee, South Carolina, South Dakota, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia, Wyoming, are all standing in opposition to President Biden.
