A now-viral video showing a Vancouver man spitting elevator buttons has many furious at the blatantly disrespectful act.

The video posted by Marie Hui, a resident at the condo, clearly shows the man putting the health of hundreds at risk by spitting on the button pad.

It's well known at this point that the coronavirus travels by droplets, and spit is a clear culprit in the disease's spread.

The Vancouver Police Department saw the matter, reaching out to Hui and providing their contact information.

A statement from the man provided by his lawyer calls his own actions "inexcusable."

"I am horrified at my own actions which are reprehensible and inexcusable," the statement reads.

"I am employed, have never had any issues with law enforcement and am otherwise a good, law-abiding citizen. I can't explain my own actions in this situation."

The man says he does not have coronavirus symptoms, and that he will be making a donation to the building that will cover the sanitation costs.

The man will not face criminal charges, Hui said, stating that police informed her that there was nothing illegal with what he had done.
