"He wouldn't want his movement to go on pause because of this. He would only want it to grow stronger and to continue.”
The chapter made the announcement over Instagram and said in the post, "Our evening event will continue as scheduled in the Daines Concert Hall. The greatest way we can honor Charlie is by carrying forward the mission he lived for: speaking truth, inspiring young people, and standing strong for freedom. The event will also serve as a tribute to his life and legacy."
A link in the chapter's social media bio redirects to a page to get tickets to the event, which states that the tour event will be hosted by "the TPUSA chapter at Utah State University," and is taking place on Tuesday, September 30, at 6:30 pm. Doors to the event open at 5 pm. The event will "honor Charlie’s mission and keep the fight alive." The page adds, "We know he wouldn’t want us to surrender or be coerced into silence. Free speech is only free if we use our voices. Join us, and let’s fight to save America and honor the legacy of Charlie Kirk!"
Kirk was assassinated on September 10 at UVU, but he was also scheduled to come back to Utah after the UVU event before the shooting. USU is located in Logan, Utah, just 130 miles north of where he was shot. Tyler Robinson, 22, has been charged with murder for the killing of Kirk. He attended USU for college but was only there for one semester in the fall of 2021.
Kaitlin Griffiths, the president of TPUSA at USU, told Fox 13 that the continuation of the tour is “exactly what Charlie would have wanted.”
"He wouldn't want his movement to go on pause because of this. He would only want it to grow stronger and to continue.”
Griffiths added, “I’ve gotten a lot of people offering to help, asking if there's any way to volunteer for helping with that event. A lot of people in the local community, at the school as well, just asking for more details.”
The event is slated to take place at the Daines Concert Hall; however, Griffiths said, “With increasing, growing interest in the event and in our club here at Utah State, we have discussed moving it to the basketball stadium, but yeah location is still not clear.”
