Woke rapper Bad Bunny has become the first Spanish-speaking musician to get best album, record, and song nominations at the Grammys. This comes ahead of his slated performance at the Super Bowl, where he has said that Americans should learn Spanish for his halftime show.

His latest album, “Debí Tirar Más Fotos" ("I Should Have Taken More Photos") got a nomination for best album at the Grammys, and the title track of the album was nominated for best song and record of the year awards. It is the first time that a Spanish track has appeared across all three nominations, per Variety.

There were a total of six nominations for the album on Friday.

Bad Bunny, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio, has come under fire in recent months after he vowed not to perform in the US for his 2025 tour because of President Donald Trump's immigration policies, saying that he did not want crowds to fear ICE raids as they watched his show.

"People from the US could come here to see the show. Latinos and Puerto Ricans of the United States could also travel here, or to any part of the world. But there was the issue that ... ICE could be outside (my concert venue). And it's something that we were talking about and very concerned about," he said previously. He also endorsed Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election.

Despite not wanting to perform in the US for his 2025 tour, he accepted an invitation to perform at the Super Bowl halftime show, set to take place on February 8, 2026. Since being tapped for the show, he has been seen sitting during the National Anthem, and Turning Point USA has announced an alternative halftime show for viewers to counter the left-wing politics of the musician.
