After postponing the show in the days following the assassination of Charlie Kirk, Apple TV's "The Savant" starring Jessica Chastain is finally going to be released. The show was mocked online by those on the right when it was originally going to air as the show's plotline follows an investigator who goes after so-called online "hate-groups."

The show is based on a person who was featured in a Cosmopolitan article known as the "Savant" who was able to stop a bombing from happening. However, later the individual was focused on "the alt-right, a younger, more misogynistic version of the white supremacist movement that’s converting a new generation on message boards and social media."

“Before it was like, ‘I don’t know if we’re going to see it,’ but now I can say, ‘We’re going to see it,” Chastain told Variety, revealing that the show is set to air.

“After careful consideration, we have made the decision to postpone ‘The Savant.’ We appreciate your understanding and look forward to releasing the series at a future date," Apple TV said on September 23 when the show was postponed. At the time, Chastain had disagreed with Apple postponing the show.

“I’ve never shied away from difficult subjects, and while I wish this show wasn’t so relevant, unfortunately it is,” she wrote at the time. “‘The Savant’ is about the heroes who work every day to stop violence before it happens, and honoring their courage feels more urgent than ever. While I respect Apple’s decision to pause the release for now, I remain hopeful the show will reach audiences soon. Until then, I’m wishing safety and strength for everyone, and I’ll let you know if and when ‘The Savant’ is released.”

The show became something of a meme online in September before its release as the plotline is purportedly about right-wing hate groups, but left-wing political violence had just been highlighted in the national news with the assassination of Kirk.
