Immigration Customs and Enforcement (ICE) has revealed that it is overseeing 5.7 million illegal immigrants, up from 3.3 million before Biden became president. This revelation came in ICE paperwork detailing the Biden administration's planned "Release and Reporting Management" program that would provide free food, housing, and medical services to these illegal immigrants.

The initiative would cost taxpayers billions of dollars and is being compared to welfare assistance for illegal immigrants, the New York Post reports.

Former ICE director Tom Homan told the outlet that the program is an effort to enlist vendors in ICE's monitoring of migrants via ankle monitors, phone applications, and in-person checks.

"The RRM is just a push by the open border advocates to provide welfare benefits to 6 million people," Homan said.

"They're going to give legal assistance to illegal aliens at the taxpayers' expense to fight the government," Homan explained, adding that the combined services are a "massive giveaway that are going to cost billions of dollars."

According to the RFI form, all RRM participants would be provided "legal assistance; psychosocial services; therapeutic services; medical services; food and clothing banks; housing; public transportation information; parental information; education information; and repatriation and reintegration services."

"These services are designed to increase participant compliance with immigration obligations through information, stabilization, and support. Services will be individualized to each participant's needs and may range from basic referrals to intensive direct assistance," the RFI form states.

The RRM program is designed to replace ICE's current "non-detained programs" and would apply to the "non-detained docket" which is currently listed at 5.7 million people.

According to The Post, the 5.7 million figure does not include people detained in facilities awaiting deportation or in ICE detention for processing at the border.

To determine whether US "vendors" would be interested in taking part in the government-funded scheme, ICE distributed a Request for Information (RFI) form to them in August.

According to the ICE Q&A form, the Biden administration is still in the planning stages and has not yet implemented RRM. However, it intends to issue a "Request for Proposal" to suppliers in the fiscal year 2024.

According to ICE estimates for the fiscal year 2023, only 194,632 migrants are being followed by GPS or other technology as part of the ATD program, indicating millions of migrants are free to wander the nation unnoticed, the outlet reports.

During Biden's administration, US Customs and Border Protection has dealt with a record number of illegal migrants. Agency data indicates that the number of migrant encounters exceeded 2.76 million in the fiscal year 2022.

According to a Department of Homeland Security assessment, the government already acknowledged losing track of 177,000 migrants after they were let into the country.
