President Biden's White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre declared herself to be a "historic figure" on Saturday after barely serving one year in the cabinet.

The press secretary's comments were made while appearing in an interview on The Grio in which she compared herself and the Biden administration to US historical figures.

"A year in this role, there's been a couple of things that has made me incredibly proud. Many things have made me incredibly proud to be at that podium during this historic moment," Jean-Pierre said.

"This is a historic administration. I'm a historic figure and I certainly walk in history every day. But this is also a historic making administration because of this president," she added.

Despite the Biden administration being mostly known for weaponizing the Department of Justice against its political rivalsachieving record-high inflation, plunging the United States into economic recessions, making the US energy dependent, and the botched US military withdrawal from Afghanistan, Jean-Pierre is certain that the "historic" success of the Biden administration will be talked about in history books; along the likes of Martin Luther King Jr., Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, and John Adams.

Jean-Pierre, who became the first black lesbian White House press secretary, has a history of using her national platform to discuss how great she believes herself to be.

In October, President Biden's press secretary took to the podium on National Coming Out Day to highlight herself and share her own personal story to reporters on how she decided to "come out" as a lesbian to her family and friends.

“Like so many in the LGBTQ community,” she explained, “coming out wasn't an easy thing to do. My family was traditional and conservative; being gay in my family wasn’t something that you mention out loud or celebrated.”

She went on to detail how her family grew to accept who she was and who she loved, adding that, “the beauty of America is its freedoms, and the promise that you can achieve your dreams, no matter your race, sex, country of origin, sexual orientation, or gender identity.”

“This is something we continue to strive for,” she continued, suggesting there was a “wave of anti-LGBTQ legislation” being pushed across the country.

She thanked President Biden for supporting the LGBTQ community, and vowed that as an administration, they will “continue to stand with those who come out, and … those who are thinking about coming out."

While Jean-Pierre did not provide details during her appearance on Grio surrounding why she believes herself to be a "historic figure," one can interpret her past remarks of being the first lesbian, black woman on the US cabinet to be at least part of what would supposedly qualify her.
