Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin, who collapsed after making a tackle while playing the Cincinnati Bengals last week, has been released from hospital.

According to ABC 6, Cincinnati doctors said that Hamlin was released from the hospital on Monday and has returned to Buffalo, New York. Doctors said that his breathing tube was removed on Friday, and that Hamlin took his first assisted walking lap the same day.

Hamlin has posted updates on social media from his hospital bed, sharing thanks for the outpouring of support from fans and cheering on his team as they geared up to play the New England Patriots on Sunday.

"GAMETIME!!!" Hamlin captioned a post of him lying in the hospital bed with his hands together in a heart sign.

Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest, causing him to pass out during the game and require intensive medical care for several days. The game was canceled, with fans, teammates, and coaches in shock.

He let the world know he was awake on Saturday, writing "Putting love into the world comes back 3xs as much… thankful for everyone who has reached out and prayed. This will make me stronger on the road to recovery, keep praying for me!"

In a follow-up that same day, he wrote "The love is felt, & extremely real. No matter race or religion everybody coming together in prayer!"

In another post from Sunday, Hamlin, who wears "#3," wrote "GameDay... Nothing I Want More Than To Be Running Out That Tunnel With My Brothers. God Using Me In A Different Way Today. Tell Someone You Love Them Today!"

After Hamlin, 24, collapsed on the field, his "heartbeat was restored," by assistant athletic trainer Denny Kellington, who performed CPR. He was later transported to UC Medical Center for further testing and treatment, according to the Buffalo Bills.
