"It is my great honor to appoint Mark Burnett as the Special Envoy to the United Kingdom."
Trump posted on Truth Social, "It is my great honor to appoint Mark Burnett as the Special Envoy to the United Kingdom. With a distinguished career in television production and business, Mark brings a unique blend of diplomatic acumen and international recognition to this important role."
"Mark is known for creating and producing some of the biggest shows in Television History, including 'Survivor,' 'Shark Tank,' 'The Voice' and, most notably, 'The Apprentice.' He is the former Chairman of MGM, and has won 13 Emmy Awards!" Trump added. "Mark will work to enhance diplomatic relations, focusing on areas of mutual interest, including trade, investment opportunities, and cultural exchanges."
Burnett, who some have credited with creating Trump’s brand with “The Apprentice” has previously told reporters that he has “never been a supporter of Donald Trump’s candidacy,” according to a 2016 report from Variety. However, some have speculated about if Burnett has supported Trump during his political career.
One producer from the first five seasons of "The Apprentice," Katherine Walker, told The New Yorker in 2018 that "Donald would not be President had it not been for that show.”
With Burnett’s appointment announced on Saturday, Trump also announced the appointment of David Fink for the Administrator of the Federal Railroad Administration. He also nominated Aaron Reitz to serve as the Head of the Justice Department’s Office of Legal Policy. Along with the other appointments, Trump also tapped Chad Mizelle to be the Chief of Staff of the Department of Justice.
The President-elect has quickly made cabinet picks that must go through the nomination process in the Senate. Some of the more publicized nominations have been Pete Hegseth for Defense Secretary and Tulsi Gabbard for Director of National Intelligence.
