38 Republicans voted against the spending package that President-elect Donald Trump backed on Thursday. Some on the list of GOP lawmakers took issue with the proposed spending package suspending the debt ceiling. Chip Roy, who Trump laid into specifically over the issue on Truth Social, gave a speech on the House floor slamming Republicans for not being more fiscally conservative.

In reaction to Roy’s opposition and breaking Republican ranks, Trump said the lawmaker was “getting in the way ... of having yet another Great Republican Victory” for the House GOP. On Friday morning, House Speaker Mike Johnson indicated that there would be another House vote on the spending package for something along the lines of a “plan C.”
