Trump responded on Friday to that hope, and to Musk's takeover, in a post on his own social media platform Truth Social. "I am very happy that Twitter is now in sane hands, and will no longer be run by Radical Left Lunatics and Maniacs that truly hate our country," he wrote.
"Truth Social has become somewhat of a phenomena," he wrote. "Last week it had bigger numbers than all other platforms, including TikTok, Twitter, Facebook and the rest. It also looks and works better to my eye. I am very happy that Twitter is now in sane hands, and will no longer be run by Radical Left Lunatics and Maniacs that truly hate our country. Twitter must now work hard to rid itself of all the bots and fake accounts that have hurt it so badly. It will be much smaller, but butter. I LOVE TRUTH!"
On Thursday, Musk fired top executives, including CEO Parag Agrawal, chief financial officer Ned Segal, and Vijaya Gadde, head of legal policy, trust, and safety.
It's not just Trump that Twitter users hope is reinstated, but many, many former account holders who have been banned. Among them are Dr. Jordan Peterson, Meghan Murphy, Savanah Hernandez, Project Veritas, James O'Keefe, and Babylon Bee. Many others were banned for saying things like "learn to code."
Trump has not said that he would rejoin the platform if his account were reinstated. He's said the opposite, in fact.
"I am not going on Twitter, I am going to stay on TRUTH," Trump said in April. "I hope Elon buys Twitter because he’ll make improvements to it and he is a good man, but I am going to be staying on TRUTH."
"We’re taking in millions of people, and what we’re finding is that the response on TRUTH is much better than being on Twitter," Trump said. "Twitter has bots and fake accounts, and we are doing everything we can."
"The bottom line is, no, I am not going back to Twitter," he said.
This was after Musk announced his intentions to buy the platform, and users demanded that Trump be reinstated.Join and support independent free thinkers!
