NewsNation’s Senior National Correspondent Brian Entin has revealed that the parents of Tyler Robinson, the suspect charged with assassinating Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, have been conducting virtual visits with their son that they turned in to authorities.

Entin said, "Now, I’ve confirmed through sources that his family has been having virtual visits with him in jail, with Tyler Robinson in jail." These visits with his parents have been through tablets, with Entin noting that in-person visits "don’t really happen very much" at the Utah jail Robinson is being held at, "and when they do they happen behind glass."

Robinson has been charged with the September 10 assassination of Kirk, who had been hosting a campus event at Utah Valley University at the time of the fatal shooting. On September 12, authorities announced that they had taken 22-year-old Robinson into custody. Robinson had confessed to his father about the shooting, who had recognized his son from photos that were released by the FBI. Robinson initially refused to turn himself in to law enforcement, saying that he would rather kill himself. His parents turned him in.

Citing court documents, Entin said, "Robinson’s father reported that when his wife showed him the surveillance image of the suspected shooter in the news, he agreed it looked like their son. The suspect’s father also believed the rifle police suspected the shooter used matched a rifle that was given to his son as a gift." The father reached out to Robinson asking for him to send a photo of the rifle, but Robinson did not respond.

Robinson’s parents convinced him to come to their house, and there, "Robinson implied that he was the shooter and stated that he could not go to jail and just wanted to end it."

"His parents then asked their son why he committed this crime, to which he said, 'there is too much evil and the guy,' allegedly Charlie Kirk, 'spreads too much hate.'" Entin added, "The suspect’s parents then actually pushed Robinson to speak with a family friend who happens to be a deputy sheriff and then that deputy sheriff convinced Robinson to go and turn himself in at the sheriff’s office."
