Conservative Party leader Erin O'Toole announced during a press conference on Monday that his party will call for a parliamentary committee to look into the fall of Afghanistan to the Taliban, and the Trudeau Liberals' failure to prepare for it.
O'Toole criticized Trudeau for Canada's inability to read the situation, saying that allies were left behind, despite prior knowledge that Kabul could fall.
O'Toole also criticized Trudeau for having only brought in a fraction of refugees from Afghanistan than what was initially promised.
"They've left Canadians behind their high tax and high debt agenda, and they've left people behind in Afghanistan, who are at risk because they helped Canada," said O'Toole. "They had months to plan for US troops pulling out of Afghanistan, to plan what that would mean for Canadians on the ground, and Afghans on the ground who fought or served alongside Canada."
"The Liberal government have brought less than 10 percent to Canada that they promised, they called a pandemic election when Justin Trudeau should have been showing leadership.
"This committee will help Canadians understand why they failed to act," said O'Toole.
Prime Minister Trudeau was heavily criticized during the early days of the most recent election season, as he requested that the Governor General Mary Simon dissolve parliament less than 24 hours after Kabul fell.
