“Go f*cking shoot yourself, how about that?”
Footage captured of the incident showed Gomez accosting Republican Rep. Elliott Engen of Lino Lakes, where she told him, “Go f*cking shoot yourself, how about that?”
Engen posted in response to the video that was going viral on X, “Can confirm. Didn’t have multiple Democrat colleagues yelling at me to 'go f’ing shoot myself' on my bingo card.”
House GOP leaders in the Minnesota legislature responded to the incident, saying that Gomez accosted Engen and called for her to be removed as the Tax Chair over her statements.
GOP House Leader Harry Niska said, "After the horrible tragedies we've had in Minnesota over the last year, it is sickening that an elected official would think it's acceptable to say the things we heard tonight. We had just heard hours of debate and heartbreaking stories of loss and violence. To respond to that with threats and hate is unconscionable and unacceptable."
House Speaker Lisa Demuth said, "This kind of behavior is unacceptable and it makes every person in this place less safe. Someone willing to spew hate and accost colleagues is unfit to serve as a leader in Minnesota."
Although it was unclear what time she took the action, Gomez's X account was set to private in the time following the incident on Thursday.

The bill that was being pushed by the Democrats in the state House, HF 5140, did not pass the Thursday vote. The bill, if it was passed into law, would have banned so-called "Semiautomatic military-style assault weapons," including AK-47s and AR-15s, and high-capacity magazines. Leading up to the bill, the Democrats were threatening to hold an overnight sit-in in the chamber.
