"I will travel our country to share behind-the-scenes moments, lessons learned, and how we keep moving forward together."
Former Vice President Kamala Harris will be setting off on a tour in the fall to discuss her new memoir, "107 Days," in which the failed presidential candidate discusses her brief 2024 campaign.
The tour will begin on September 24 in New York City, one day after the book’s release. Additional tour stops will include Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Nashville, Miami, and Chicago, as well as international stops in Toronto, Canada, and London, UK.
When she spoke to Stephen Colbert about the book, she emphasized that this was to be an "outsider" tour for the book and that she wanted to go out into America and "listen" to people. "I wanna travel the country, I want to listen to people, I want to talk with people," she said.
Harris announced her book in late July after revealing that she would not run for California governor. "Just over a year ago, I launched my campaign for President of the United States. 107 days traveling the country, fighting for our future. The shortest presidential campaign in modern history. It was intense, high stakes, and deeply personal — for me and for so many of you," she said at the time.
"Since leaving office, I’ve spent a lot of time reflecting on those days. Talking with my team, my family, my friends, and pulling my thoughts together. In essence, writing a journal that is this book: 107 Days. With candor and reflection, I’ve written a behind-the-scenes account of that journey. I believe there’s value in sharing what I saw, what I learned, and what I know it will take to move forward. In writing this book, one truth kept coming back to me: sometimes the fight takes a while. But I remain full of hope. And I remain clear-eyed. I will never stop fighting to make our country reflect the very best of its ideals. Always on behalf of the people. So thank you for being in this fight with me. I am forever grateful. And I cannot wait for you to read this. And I’ll see you out there."
Harris described the book as a "candid and personal account of the shortest campaign in modern history," adding that "over the next few months, I will travel our country to share behind-the-scenes moments, lessons learned, and how we keep moving forward together.
In response to the tour announcement, Congresswoman Virginia Foxx wrote, "A nationwide comedy tour."
Rep Chase Tramont wrote, "No thanks! But I did catch the movie and it was quite the comedy."
Young Americans Foundation president Scott Walker wrote, "Spoiler Alert: She lost the election."
