Addressing reporters at Joint Base Andrews on Thursday afternoon, Vice President Kamala Harris said that she would be taking Biden’s spot in the previously set ABC presidential debate on September 10 against Donald Trump. With Biden withdrawing from the presidential race, Harris is set to become the Democratic nominee.

"So many of you have been asking me about the debate and I’ll tell you, I’m ready to debate Donald Trump. I have agreed to the previously agreed upon September 10 debate. He agreed to that previously, now it appears he’s backpedaling, but I’m ready," Harris told reporters.

"I think the voters deserve to see the split screen that exists in this race on a debate stage. And so I’m ready, let’s go," she added. Reporters attempted to ask Harris about the proposed Fox News debate, but Harris walked away without answering.

Fox News has invited Trump and Harris to participate in a September 17 debate in Pennsylvania. A letter from Fox News Media president and executive editor Jay Wallace to Trump campaign co-managers Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles stated that the proposed date would be occurring "just as early voting is getting underway" in the state and other battleground states. Wallace said that hosts Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum "are the best choices to moderate."

The letter came after Trump challenged Harris to a debate on the network. "My debate with Crooked Joe Biden, the Worst President in the history of the United States, was slated to be broadcast on Fake News ABC, the home of George Slopadopolus, sometime in September. Now that Joe has, not surprisingly, has quit the race, I think the Debate, with whomever the Radical Left Democrats choose, should be held on FoxNews, rather than very biased ABC. Thank you!"
