A student at the University of New Orleans vandalized merchandise from a Turning Point USA table event. Footage posted by TPUSA Frontlines on Wednesday showed the female student stepping on buttons that were on the ground while bystanders watched.
TPUSA said that the student was repeatedly interrupting the conversations of other students and also tried to steal and throw away materials on the table that were intended to be handed out to interested students.
The organization has faced a large number of instances of students harassing and vandalizing chapter members who hand out materials on college campuses. Frontlines also reported on Wednesday that TPUSA students at Ohio University were tabling on campus when someone drove by shouting, “Charlie Kirk had it coming.” Numerous threats were made on the social media platform Yik Yak regarding the chapter when they would table on campus, including one that read “something kirkalicious will occur,” a reference to the assassination of founder Charlie Kirk.
One post included an anonymous account asking how long the chapter will be on campus, and another replied, “Until I come with my gun.”
Since the death of Kirk, TPUSA has still faced universities attempting to block the organization from founding campus chapters. Late last month, the student government at St. John’s University in Queens blocked a bid by TPUSA to open a chapter on its campus. This was the second time an application to create a chapter on the Catholic university’s campus was denied.
