Conservative MP Glen Motz reprimanded the Liberal Public Safety Minister Marco Mendicino after he accused Freedom Convoy protestors of being behind an arson attack on an Ottawa residential building.

"Those of us who were here were generally aware of the boisterous atmosphere, but it was far worse and criminal," said Mendicino according to Life Site News, saying that there was "a high degree of anxiety, concern, frustration and anger which was regrettably justified."

"When seniors can’t get around because public transportation can’t get to them, when people who live in apartment buildings find their front doors are locked and that fires are set in the hallways and corridors – " said Mendicino, before a point of order was brought forward by Motz.

“That statement right there was proven false by the Ottawa Police Service. There was no connection to the protesters whatsoever. For this Minister to suggest that, that is absolutely unacceptable.”

This is the first time since the Ottawa Police came forward with evidence proving otherwise that the Liberals have attempted to claim that the arson was attempted by convoyers. Members of the Trudeau Liberals and mainstream media journalists spread the unsubstantiated claim that Connor Russell McDonald, 21, of Ottawa was involved with the protests. On April 8, the second man was also deemed to be not associated with the protests.

The incident happened on Feb. 6 in downtown Ottawa, several blocks away from where the Convoy was protesting.

Despite the police never having indicated that the pair arrested was in any way connected with the people protesting for their freedom at the time, many government officials publicly stated that such a connection existed. This included Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson who said: "We learned of this horrific story that clearly demonstrates the malicious intent of these protesters occupying our city."
