One post blamed “white people” for creating al Qaeda.
The account, operating under the handle @_RamaDee, was deleted as of Thursday, according to The New York Post. Duwaji had used the account and a Tumblr blog to promote content tied to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), a US-designated terrorist organization, while also pushing anti-Israel and anti-American rhetoric.
Among the most explosive posts: a 2017 upload of infamous plane hijacker Leila Khaled, a PFLP terrorist who helped carry out two airline hijackings. Duwaji paired the image with Khaled’s chilling line: “If it does good for my cause, I’d be happy to accept death.”
Duwaji also boosted Shadia Abu Ghazaleh, another PFLP terrorist involved in attacks against Israelis, praising her as a trailblazing “resistance” figure in a 2015 post tied to International Women’s Day.
Other posts glorified the First Intifada, a violent uprising that helped give rise to Hamas, and circulated imagery celebrating Palestinian terrorists. In a 2015 repost on her now-defunct Tumblr account, Duwaji amplified a screed attacking US troops as “not brave,” accusing them of “mercilessly slaughtering 3rd world civilians” to uphold “American hegemony.” Another post blamed “white people” for creating al Qaeda.
She also lashed out at Israel when Snapchat featured Tel Aviv in 2015; Duwaji boosted posts claiming the city “shouldn’t exist in the first place,” calling Israelis “occupiers” and accusing the platform of backing a “genocidal state.”
Additionally, Duwaji, who is not black, used the N-word in a 2013 post. Earlier reports revealed that Duwaji had liked Instagram posts celebrating Hamas’ October 7, 2023, terror attack on Israel, including one that dismissed reports of sexual violence against Israeli victims as a “mass rape hoax.”
Despite deleting her X account, Duwaji still commands a massive online audience. Her public Instagram page, with roughly 2 million followers, remains active.
Mayor Zohran Mamdani, a vocal critic of Israel, has rushed to defend his wife and told reporters, “My wife is the love of my life, and she’s also a private person who has held no formal position on my campaign or in my City Hall. I, however, was elected to represent all 8.5 million people in the city… and it’s my responsibility… to answer questions about my thoughts and my politics.”
