REVEALED: Alleged Pelosi attacker was psychotic, homeless drug addict

Michael Shellenberger wrote on Substack, "Neighbors described DePape as a homeless addict with politics that was, until recently, left-wing, but of secondary importance to his psychotic and paranoid behavior."

During the incident, which occurred around 2:27 am, DePape allegedly broke into the home, then apparently allowed Pelosi to use the bathroom, where he made a 911 call in which he referred to DePape as a "friend". It is unclear whether Paul Pelosi was trying to say that DePape was his friend, or Nancy's.

DePape then yelled "Where is Nancy? Where is Nancy?" before the attack, which police arrived in time to see.

San Francisco Police Chief William Scott said on Friday, "Our officers observed Mr. Pelosi and the suspect both holding a hammer. The suspect pulled the hammer away from Mr. Pelosi and violently assaulted him with it. Our officers immediately tackled the suspect, disarmed him, took him into custody."

Pelosi was taken to a nearby hospital with a skull fracture, but is expected to make a full recovery.

Details of DePape's past include a history of far-left activism and nudism.

One of DePape's Berkeley, California neighbors, a woman named Trish, said "What I know about the family is that they’re very radical activists."

"They seem very left. They are all about the Black Lives Matter movement. Gay pride. But they're very detached from reality. They have called the cops on several of the neighbors, including us, claiming that we are plotting against them. It's really weird to see that they are willing to be so aggressive toward somebody else who is also a lefty," she added.

Post Millennial Editor-at-Large Andy Ngo noted of a photo of DePape's home that was published, "'Black lives matter' and other left-wing signs or symbols line the outside of the hippie Berkeley, Calif. commune of where the Pelosi beating suspect lived."

According to Shellenberger, DePape's living arrangements resembled that of "an open drug scene."

In the driveway of the home is a big school bus which neighbors say people visit to do drugs, specifically the psychodelic ibogaine.

Another woman who knew DePape in 2014, Linda Schneider, said "He [was] likely a mindless follower of something he saw on social media because I don’t think he had the courage to be part of any political or terrorist group."

Schneider claimed he was homeless in 2014, lived in a storage unit, and had consistent problems with hard drugs.

"His drug use began again and he went off his rocker," she added.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, "DePape closely associated with the high-profile nudist Gypsy Taub, a 9/11 denier who disrobed during a hearing inside City Hall. DePape lived with Taub, her three children and her fiance, Jaymz Smith, in a three-bedroom Victorian flat in Berkeley, where he made hemp jewelry and was considered by some to be a 'father figure.'"
