New York Governor Kathy Hochul, who replaced Andrew Cuomo after his August resignation over sexual harassment charges, is making good on her threat to fire health care workers who refuse to submit to Albany's vaccine mandates. These mandates are for those workers who have already had Covid-19 and have antibodies as well as those who have not.

"I will be signing an executive order to give me the emergency powers necessary," Hochul continued, "to address the shortages where they occur. That's going to allow me to deploy the National Guard who are medically trained, deploy people who've been retired who may have had a licensed labs, bring in people from elsewhere."
"That," she said, "is not my first position. That my friends, my desire is to have the people who've been out there continue to work in their jobs, work in them safely and to all the other health care workers who are vaccinated. They also deserve to know that the people they're working with will not get them sick."
On Wednesday, Hochul made the threat that any health care workers who continued to refuse vaccinations would be terminated and replaced. She is now fulfilling that promise.
Hochul said at the time "To all the healthcare providers, doctors and nurses in particular who are vaccinated, I say thank you. Because you are keeping true to your oath. To those who won’t, we’ll be replacing people. And I have a plan that’s going to be announced very shortly." Bringing in the National Guard, apparently, is her plan.
The New York State Assembly in March revoked the emergency orders that had been granted to Governor Cuomo. Hochul is taking some of those powers back for her own.
Since taking office, Hochul has asked Facebook to censor what she called abortion "misinformation," has extended the eviction moratorium in New York to January 2022, has released nearly 200 inmates from the Rikers Island jail facility, and has installed a mask mandate for all schools in the state, as well as pressed for a vaccine mandate for all teachers and staff.
