Covington teen Nick Sandmann has announced that he will be speaking at the Republican National Convention next week as other speakers are beginning to be revealed.

Sandmann took to Twitter early Tuesday, tweeting: "I can’t tell you all enough about how excited I am to be apart of this years RNC!"

Sandmann was engulfed in controversy back in 2019 after a video clip went viral that depicted the MAGA-hat-wearing student simply standing and smiling in the presence of Native American Nathan Phillips who was banging on his a drum and singing in front of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C.

A number of mainstream media outlets smeared Sandmann and the other students with racially charged behaviour before more details were released about the fact that a group of Black Hebrew Israelites had ignited the confrontation, spewing racial slurs at the young students as they were waiting for their bus after the March For Life event.

As a result, CNN and the Washington Post were sued for defamation, resulting in CNN having to pay Sandmann $275 million and The Post paying out $250 million in settlements.
