Chevron stated that it "started up several key projects in the Gulf of America" during quarter four.
The complete news release from the energy giant stated that it "started up several key projects in the Gulf of America" during quarter four. These projects consisted of the "deepwater Anchor project," where Chevron employees "began water injection to boost production from the Jack/St. Malo and Tahiti fields, and started production from the Whale semi-submersible platform."
The company also increased area that it is covering for oil in the Gulf of America, as well as in Angola, Brazil, Equatorial Guinea, Uruguay, as well as Namibia. The term was used in several places to indicate the work that took place in the body of water that was formerly known as the Gulf of Mexico.
On January 20, Trump said in the executive order, "The Gulf will continue to play a pivotal role in shaping America’s future and the global economy, and in recognition of this flourishing economic resource and its critical importance to our Nation’s economy and its people, I am directing that it officially be renamed the Gulf of America."
The move from Chevron may be a sign that more American companies are more willing to align with Trump, a shift that has been seen with Mark Zuckerberg at Meta as well as Jeff Bezos at Amazon.
Trump has also vowed to bring back America's energy independence that was stifled by regulation under the Biden administration, perhaps pointing to more business opportunities for Chevron and other energy companies.
