Students at a high school in Oregon held a walkout in response to one of their teachers posting that it was "good" that Turning Point USA founder and political activist Charlie Kirk was assassinated on September 10. The teacher, despite heavy backlash over his comment, remains employed at the school.

Students have led a walkout in response to the post from Nove, who remains employed by the school despite the comments celebrating Kirk's death.

The post quickly led to a strong reaction from parents, students, and others who were outraged that a teacher at the high school was celebrating the death of Kirk, and some said that it also implied the teacher would be fine with others who agreed with Kirk to be killed as well.

"Him saying good kind of implies he would be okay with other murders and that makes students and other teachers feel unsafe so we are out here to stand for that and stand up for people that aren't us," student Trey Sonhill said, per KVAL

In a statement, the school district said, "The views expressed in the post do not reflect the values of SPS. As a public school district, we’re committed to providing a safe and respectful environment for all students, staff, and families. While we cannot comment on individual personnel actions, know that we are taking this matter seriously."

Another student from the high school, Rowan Taylor, said of the comments from Nove, "That ideology and just believing that murder is OK is not OK. And we strongly believe that we need to stand up against it and... there's no place for that here. If he's okay with this murder, it goes… it just, like, it brings up the question, what other ones is he okay with?"
