Pro-Hamas activists clash with pro-Israel defenders in New York for second straight night

On Monday afternoon, hundreds of pro-Palestinian demonstrators and Israel supporters gathered outside the Israeli embassy just steps away from the United Nations headquarters in midtown Manhattan. 

The event, which was punctuated by threats, marked the second consecutive day of protests in the Big Apple in response to Iranian-backed Palestinian terrorist organization Hamas' brutal assault on Israeli civilians. 

According to the New York Post, while most pro-Palestinian demonstrators simply held up signs supporting the end of Israeli "occupation," some went one step further and vocally called for the eradication of Jews from the area.

"We gotta kill them all!" one man yelled. "We're going to kill them all! You better leave our country! You better get out of there!"

Another pro-Palestinian demonstrator attempted to justify Hamas' actions by suggesting, "Fighting back isn't terrorism."

An elderly Israel supporter slammed those celebrating Hamas' actions, suggesting, "there's nothing pro-Palestine about it." She went on to compare the terrorist group to the Nazis, pointing out that they had kidnapped and tortured Israelis, and had even begun "grabbing children directly out of their mothers' arms."

Mayor Eric Adams spoke at a vigil nearby, standing in solidarity with Israel and its supporters.

"Nothing can justify pulling innocent children from their homes, murdering them, dragging them through the streets, laying your feet across their bodies," he said. "Nothing can justify what we witnessed."

On Sunday night, protests kicked off in Times Square with New York Democratic Socialists of America rallying in support of Hamas and demanding that the United States cease all aid to Israel.

Members of the group chanted, "From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free," a well-known line many have taken to be a call for the killing of Jews in Israel.

The rally was condemned by Governor Kathy Hochul, with the New York Police Department's counter-terrorism division later announcing that they have ramped up patrols at synagogues.
