Actor Dennis Quaid, who stars in the upcoming biopic Reagan, expressed his admiration for Donald Trump following the former president's rally in the South Bronx last week. During an appearance on Fox News' "Jesse Watters Primetime," Quaid praised Trump for his grassroots approach.

"I really admire Trump for going into the neighborhoods," Quaid told host Jesse Watters. “You know, people relate to that. They really do. If anything, all these events that been conspiring against him have actually made him more human to people.”

Trump's recent rally in the Bronx saw thousands of supporters in attendance. The large crowd shocked many left-wing pundits for its size, considering the New York neighborhood is predominately Democrat.

Quaid also commented on Trump's promise to "clean house," comparing it to Reagan’s candidacy for office in 1980.

“Donald Trump has been talking about cleaning house, which, you know, kind of making a clean sweep to start over,” he continued. “That doesn’t mean being a dictator. That just means that we started doing what the American people have asked us to do.”

Drawing parallels between Trump and Ronald Reagan, Quaid noted that Reagan's ability to connect with everyday voters contributed significantly to his popularity, and suggested that Trump has the same appeal.

He also shared that Reagan was the first president he voted for, considering him a "man of the people."

When asked by Watters if he saw similarities between the 1980 election and today’s political climate, Quaid referenced Reagan’s famous campaign slogan, "Are you better off than you were four years ago?"
