A Texas man has been arrested in connection with threats made on Saturday that forced the state’s Capitol grounds to be evacuated.

Two law enforcement sources told reporters at KXAN that the man arrested was 45-year-old Robert Leroy Bowers of Katy, Texas. The sources said that Bowers’ vehicle had been flagged by a regional intelligence alert. Bowers is currently being held at Fayette County Jail on the charge of operating a motor vehicle with one plate, a misdemeanor charge. They said that Bowers had a gun in his vehicle when the traffic stop was initiated.

The Texas Department of Public Safety said in a press release Saturday evening that a trooper with the department had taken one person into custody "after a traffic stop in La Grange, Texas. Currently, there is no additional active threat."

The department had identified "a credible threat toward state lawmakers planning to attend" a protest on Saturday afternoon at the Texas State Capitol Complex. Saturday saw widespread "No Kings" protests across the country. "Out of an abundance of caution, the Capitol and Capitol Grounds were evacuated around 1 pm and both remain temporarily closed."

57-year-old Vance Boelter was arrested on Sunday after a manhunt and has been charged with two counts of second-degree murder for the deaths of Melissa and Mark Hortman, and two counts of attempted second-degree murder for the shootings of John Hoffman and Yvette Hoffman.
