“You are delusional if you think playing nice will get us anywhere. We need to bring back shame and shove it down their throats. This is a war for our children."
Matt Walsh has released an unapologetic final response to his critics whom he claims have spent the week lecturing him about his “meanness” following a Valentine’s Day podcast in which he called transgender TikTok influencer Dylan Mulvaney a “manufactured,” “lifeless,” “unearthly” “human deepfake.”
Walsh defended his choice of language against accusations that he was too harsh by pointing out that Mulvaney, who shot to TikTok stardom with the series 100 Days of Girlhood, is “running around like some cartoon of a woman passing out tampons in the women's room and meeting with the President to defend the mutilation of children.”
Calling Mulvaney “our enemy,” Walsh accuses the influencer of being an “open, visible, active and passionate advocate for the abuse of children, the war on fundamental truth and the destruction of human society as we know it.”
Amongst those critical of Walsh’s choice of language were Triggernometry podcast hosts Konstantin Kisin and Francis Foster, who argue such angry rhetoric is not going to win over hearts and minds and implied in a YouTube video that Walsh was simply giving his audience what they want, in order to gain “clicks.”
Walsh hit back saying convincing the other side is not his primary objective, with his goal instead being to “defeat and humiliate and demoralize” his opponents, arguing that the other side is not interested in compromise.
“They want nothing less than your unconditional surrender. We have to meet them with that same energy or we will lose,” he said.
Walsh stated he sees nothing wrong with “preaching to the choir,” because if “the choir is demoralized, and scared and cowering in silence, then you damn well better preach to them. What kind of congregation can you hope to have when even the choir is too afraid to sing?”
Kisin and Foster admit that Walsh is “factually not wrong” but that such language drives a deeper wedge between the two factions of the culture war, and they appeal for people to use more civil and less antagonistic language.
“You are delusional if you think playing nice will get us anywhere. We need to bring back shame and shove it down their throats. This is a war for our children,” was Walsh’s response.
Walsh is facing further backlash for a section of his response in which he said he would rather be dead than see one of his children “sucked into the gender cult and is devoured by it.”
“I have personally heard from many parents, more than I can count, who tell me versions of the same horror story. A beautiful and innocent kid one day seemingly out of nowhere, gets sucked into the gender cult and is devoured by it,” said Walsh.
“The child they held as a baby and raised and gave their lives to and loved, and still love, becomes suddenly unrecognizable. All of their innocence and light and beauty just drained out of them, replaced by this self cannibalizing madness.”
“For a parent to see this happen to a child, it is a fate worse than death. I would rather be dead than have that happen to my kids,” he concluded.
Ari Drennen of Media Matters weighed in saying such a statement makes Walsh unsafe for his children to be around.
British rapper Francis Aaron took to Twitter to say that given “the utter lunacy of the gender cult [in the U.S.], its stranglehold upon institutions, the sheer number of gender clinics, including those that provide surgery for minors,” he is surprised there aren't “a million more 'call-outs' of the Matt Walsh ilk.”
Aaron suggested people watch 10 Mulvaney videos, including the classic tampon-use ones and the meeting with President Biden, and then watch Walsh’s video calling the influencer an “eerie weirdo.”
Aaron argues that with “the crackpot Mulvaney vids as an intro, directly contextualised, [Walsh’s] response seems even tame and proportionate.”
