"I bet your old a** blood is beautiful on the concrete."
Gaines, a former collegiate swimmer leading the charge to ban trans-identifying male athletes from competing in women's sports, was tapped by TPUSA, the nation's largest conservative student-led activist organization, to give a speech at UW's Ethnic Cultural Center at 6 pm. Around 100 protesters arrived at the event roughly an hour before it was scheduled to begin.
Black bloc Antifa militants, concealing their identities behind facial coverings, acted as security for the group of protesters made up primarily of trans rights activists, who allege Gaines and her supporters are "transphobic" for seeking to safeguard women's sports. Demonstrators held up pro-trans signs and flags across the street from the venue, shouting phrases intended to spark a reaction such as "God is trans."
The group came with a clear message that Gaines, TPUSA, and Republicans were not welcome on campus, according to a speech given by one of the protest organizers. The demonstration started without incident, but tension increased after dozens of them left their designated area and set up just feet from the event venue's doors. At approximately 6:32 pm, a protester carrying a trans flag hurled a bag full of dog feces at a TPUSA volunteer, as evidenced in a video captured by The Post Millennial. Seattle and UW Campus police witnessed the incident, but did not take any action, a repeated theme throughout the night.
Around 7:25 pm, Antifa militants targeted event attendees as they exited the venue and attempted to walk to their vehicles. An elderly couple being escorted by police was hunted down and followed for several blocks while two individuals in black bloc wished death upon them.
"Kill yourself, you old folks!" one masked male militant told the couple, adding, "It would be so beautiful seeing your bodies hanging from the trees swinging back and forth." His female accomplice chimed in and said, "I bet your old a** blood is beautiful on the concrete." Authorities attempted to get the militants to leave the couple alone, but were unsuccessful. The couple eventually made it into their vehicle with the help of police.
Several minutes later, the same two Antifa militants targeted a woman with health ailments as she made her way into the parking lot. The woman, who uses a cane for walking, was ruthlessly mocked for moving slowly. The militants hurled expletives at her, accused the woman of being transphobic, and, like the elderly couple, wished she were no longer alive.
"I hope you die behind the wheel you stupid f*cking, transphobic b*tch!" the female militant said. "I hope you literally die in traffic."
"Yeah, I hope you crash and die," the male militant added. Police also escorted the woman to her vehicle.
Cam Higby, an independent field reporter with Today is America, maced the two militants in an act of self-defense after they chased the reporter, coming within inches of a physical attack. The female militant stole Higby's GoPro camera during the altercation, according to video footage captured by The Post Millennial. Seattle police are investigating the incident as a robbery.
The protest was organized by the UW Progressive Student Union. The group shared a protest flyer on Instagram that included images of firearms along with the phrase, "Protect trans youth," per TPUSA Frontlines reporter Jonathan Choe.
Despite the intimidation outside the venue, event attendees told The Post Millennial that the event went off without a hitch and praised Riley Gaines for sharing her pro-women message. Gaines spoke at Portland State the night before and that event was also protested by Antifa and trantifa activists.
