On Sunday, former President Donald J. Trump spent the afternoon in Texas serving a meal to Operation Lone Star border agents to honor their service ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday.

Trump was greeted with overwhelming support by the Texas National Guard, Texas Department of Public Safety, and US Border Patrol agents as he made his way into the hanger at South Texas International Airport in Edinburg. The 45th President thanked them for their unconditional dedication to the country, and also received an important presidential endorsement from Texas Gov. Greg Abbott.

Video recorded by Trump's campaign team shows the 2024 presidential frontrunner serving meals and taking pictures with border agents. He shook hands and had meaningful discussions with agents who work tirelessly to protect the nation's borders amid an ongoing existential crisis created by President Biden's open-border policies.

The US service members swarmed Trump for a photo before he made his way outside the hanger to address the border crisis in a speech that was given in front of a machine gun, which added value to his recent motto: "Peace through strength."

Before Trump took the stage, Republican Gov. Greg Abbott spoke to the crowd and gave Trump a glowing endorsement for president in 2024. Abbott slammed President Biden and Vice President Harris for their failures at the border and praised Trump's secure border policies when he was in the White House, claiming that his policies made all Americans safe.

"We need a president who is going to secure the border. We need a president who is going to restore law and order in the United States of America, not letting these criminals run ransack over these stores that you see images of almost nightly. We need a president who is going to restore world peace as opposed to this outbreak of warfare under Joe Biden," Gov. Abbott said. "We need Donald J. Trump back as our President of the United States of America."

"I'm here today to officially proclaim my endorsement for Donald J. Trump to be President of the United States of America, again!" announced Abbott, who was then met with beaming cheers from the crowd.

Trump took the stage and expressed his gratitude to Abbott, describing the endorsement as "a tremendous honor." Trump promised in his speech to restore safety and security to the southern border and assured Governor Abbott that should he be elected president, Abbott would not be required to address the shortcomings of the Biden administration. Instead, Abbott could concentrate on other critical matters impacting Texas, rather than the crisis at the southern border.

The visit to the southern border comes as US Customs and Border Patrol released data last month that shows illegal immigration has skyrocketed under the Biden administration, with terror suspects and special interest aliens illegally entering the US at historic highs.

Between ports of entry, 172 individuals on the terror watch list crossed the borders into the US illegally in fiscal year 2023. In the 2022 fiscal year, that number was 98, and in 2021, the first full fiscal year under the Biden administration, 16 were captured.

Along the southern border alone, a record 2,475,699 people were encountered crossing into the US illegally in 2023.

The first month of the fiscal year is already up from the 2023 fiscal year number, with 240,988 encounters in October 2023 compared to 231,529 in October 2022.

Former President Trump has made border security a pivotal focus in his 2024 presidential campaign.
